Penang,  December 20, 2011 —- Ledzworld Technology, an innovative  R&D and manufacturing company of high-end LED retro-fit lamps for professional users, has signed a patent license agreement with Cree Inc.

Cree Licenses Pioneering Remote Phosphor Patents
Cree, Inc. announced on Monday December 19 that it has granted five innovative LED lighting manufacturers licenses to select Cree patents through its recently launched remote phosphor licensing program. By making fundamental remote phosphor patents available through license, Cree is further enabling LED lighting adoption, as Cree innovations facilitate the development of LED lights combining remote phosphor optical elements with blue LEDs.

“Cree is committed to the development of innovative, energy-efficient LED lighting technology and this program provides access to important technology developed by Cree,” said George Brandes, Cree director of intellectual property licensing. “The remote phosphor licensing program is designed to provide rights under the relevant Cree patents that our LED customers need to develop and commercialize leading-edge LED luminaires and bulbs, accelerating the LED lighting revolution.”

Ledzworld is one of the 5 initial lighting innovators that have been granted licenses to Cree’s remote phosphor patents. Details of the royalty-bearing licenses were not disclosed.

Ken Chakravarti, CTO of Ledzworld is excited about the agreement and cites that this will give Ledzworld many possibilities to further develop industry leading retrofit lamps for Ledzworld’s ODM customers, mostly significant lighting brands that value Ledzworld’s speedy adoption and integration of new technologies.

Luminaires with integrated LED light engines are often bulky and expensive. In the next few years the innovation rate in LED technology will remain high and as a result LED light-sources will become better every year. Many professional buyers are hesitant to invest in high-cost luminaires with built- in LED light- sources in anticipation of improved LED technology.

Ledzworld now launches its unique Hybrid series with the appearance and characteristics of a sophisticated track-luminaire yet with all the benefits of a retrofit Par lamp. Once technology evolves, just upgrade the retrofit Par20, Par30 or Par38 to a later model without the costly investment in an entirely new luminaire.

Ledzworld is launching the Hybrid collection with its industry leading fully linear dimmable Par38, 20W Cree that produces 1200 Lumen (3000K). This 6.5W MR16 lamp produces an industry- leading high output of 450 Lumen. (480-500 Lumen at start up) The lamp has an efficacy of 70-75 Lumen/Watt and a CCT of 3000K. It truly equals the equivalent output of commonly used halogen lamps. This is the first MR16 in the market that combines a halogen equivalent output of 450-500 Lumen with an ultra low power- consumption of just 6.5W.

Penang, March 8, 2011 —- Ledzworld Technology, an innovative R&D and manufacturing company of high-end LED retro-fit lamps for professional users, launches its new LED retrofit GU10 , a fully dimmable 6.5W LED lamp. The lamp has a light output of 240 lumen in warm white (3000K) and 260 lumen in natural white (4200K). In Q4 of this year, a higher output version of 400Lm will be added to the range.

Ledzworld is the first company to launch a fully dimmable retrofit LED halogen replacement lamp that integrates the Cree MCE technology with sophisticated Ledzworld driver technology. The small form factor of a standard size GU10 connector requires a miniaturization of the driver and strict EMC standards have to be met. Ledzworld’s dimmable GU10 is the first fully certified dimmable LED replacement lamp in its class. The lamp comes in both 110V and 230V AC

Especially in Europe, the huge install-base of GU10 fixtures creates an enormous possibility for Ledzworld’s large ODM customers.

Ledzworld’s MR16 -6.5W Cree MT-G is one of the first full replacements of a traditional 50W halogen lamp.

What Every Customer Should Know About Lumen Maintenance

• Guidance on how to achieve 50,000 hour LED lifetime that cannot be explained with a single number
• Temperature and current are critical parameters
• T_j (junction temperature) and I_f (forward current) are not the only parameters that affect long-term lumen maintenance
• Higher ambient air temperatures accelerates the LED lumen degradation over time
• SSL industry now has a standard for long-term LED life testing: IESNA LM-80

IESNA LM-80

• The IESNA has published the definitive method for long term lumen maintenance testing of LED lamps – a method that is now THE INDUSTRY STANDARD
• IESNA LM-80-08, “Measuring Lumen Maintenance of LED Light Sources” requires testing of LED lamps at two air temperatures: 55^oC and 85^oC. The base of the lamp (solder point temperature) must also be held at these two temperatures
• It also allows LED manufacturers the flexibility to test the lamps at a third temperature that will represent another condition in which the lamps may be used
• The US Department of Energy recognizes the validity of this method and requires it to be used for all luminaires that are Energy Star compliant

Projecting Long-Term Lumen Maintenance

• The Alliance for Solid-State Illumination Systems and Technologies (ASSIST) in the U.S. recommends a method for extrapolating long term lumen maintenance of LED
• The ASSIST recommendation is to test LED for a minimum of 6000 hours
• An exponential curve is then fit to the 1000 hour data point and the 6000 hour data point and projected forward to model the light degradation of the LED
